Accused of beating woman to death in Ukhia, husband and mother-in-law arrested


A woman was allegedly beaten to death due to a family dispute in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar. Police have arrested the accused husband and mother-in-law.

The murder took place in Paglir Bill area of ​​Haldiapalong Union of Ukhia Upazila on Thursday (June 4) morning.

Parveen Akhter (25) killed in that area. Wife of Abdul Alam and daughter of Abdul Ghafoor.

Locals said that Parveen Akhtar and her husband went to her father's house around 6 am on Thursday. Abdul Alam had a speech. At one stage, Abdul Alam strangled his wife and beat him. Parveen got seriously injured and fell unconscious. Later, her husband and family members rescued her and took her to Ukhia Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared her dead.

On receiving the information, the police visited the spot. The victim's husband was accused of being involved in the murder. Abdul Alam and his mother were arrested.

Ukhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mujibur Rahman said, “Information of the death of a housewife due to beating by her husband has been received. The actual cause can be ascertained after the post-mortem report and investigation.”

He said that the body of the deceased has been sent to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal action is being taken in this incident.
