The new chairman Masud Khan and three commissioners Nahid Mahtab, Tanvir Habib Rahman, Md. in the stock market regulatory body Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). Nafiz Al Tariq has officially joined. On Thursday (June 4) afternoon, they joined the capital's Agargaon BSEC.
Prime Minister's Special Assistant Tanveer Ghani and Financial Institutions Department Secretary Najma Mubarek were present during the joining of BAC chairman and commissioners.
On Thursday (June 4) noon, the chairman and commissioners were appointed in a separate notification signed by Farzana Jahan, Deputy Secretary of Financial Institutions Division, Capital Market-1 Branch of the Ministry of Finance.
As per the notification, they have been appointed to their respective posts for the next four years from the date of joining. As a condition of this appointment, it has been said that they have to abandon all existing work-relationships with all other institutions and organizations.
The new chairman Masood Khan is the chairman of multinational company Unilever Consumer Care Limited. Apart from this he is the Group CEO of Crown Cement Plc.
On Thursday (June 4) morning, the outgoing chairman of BSEC Khandkar Rashed Maqsood and four commissioners of the organization resigned. He has submitted his resignation letter to the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance.
According to sources in the Financial Institutions Department, they have resigned citing personal reasons. The four commissioners of BSEC who resigned are — Md. Mohsin Chowdhury, Md. Ali Akbar, Farzana Lalarukh and Md. Saifuddin.
BSEC appointed Commissioner Nafiz Al Tariq is the Managing Director of Dhaka Bank Securities, Nahid Mahtab is a Supreme Court lawyer and Tanveer Habib Rahman is the Director of Asha International.
