Khaleda Zia is repeatedly suffering from fever due to lung and kidney complications. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made this comment at a press conference on Monday morning to inform about the latest condition of party chairperson under treatment at Evercare Hospital.
He said, 'As far as I know from the doctors, she (Khaleda Zia) has a heart problem. As they (doctors) think, kidney is not functioning properly. His liver is also not working properly. Due to which the fever is gone, but the fever is coming again. He had a fever yesterday too.'
Expressing gratitude to the doctors of Evercare Hospital, Mirza Fakhrul said, 'They are trying their best. They repeatedly say that our hospital is not well equipped. He should be taken to an advanced center for treatment.'
The BNP chairperson is being treated by a 10-member medical board headed by cardiologist Shahabuddin Talukder. Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara on April 27 with post-covid complications. Six days later he was shifted to the CCU when he experienced difficulty in breathing.
Later, when the condition improved, Khaleda Zia was shifted to the cabin on June 3 after a month on the advice of doctors. Khaleda Zia 'suddenly' developed fever on May 28 while in the CCU. His fever came under control on May 30. On April 14, he was infected with the coronavirus along with other family members at Basa Feroza in Gulshan. He became corona free on May 9.
