Severe traffic jam on the highway in Ghazaria, extreme suffering during the Eid journey

A severe traffic jam has been created in Ghazaria of Munshiganj on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Passengers and drivers have suffered greatly.

On Tuesday (May 26) after 4 pm, there was a traffic jam on both sides of the highway from Jamaldi Meghna Bridge area for about 8 km.

According to highway police and local sources, the workers of Chaiti Garments blocked the highway in Tipuridi area of ​​Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj to demand due salary. It also affected Ghazaria section of Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Passengers and drivers suffered as the traffic jam in Sonargaon spread to Bhaberchar area of ​​Ghazaria.

Saiful Islam, the driver of Dhaka-bound Matlab Paribahan said, I got stuck in the traffic jam as soon as I reached Bhaberchar area. I have been in the same place for half an hour. The car is not moving forward at all. Two trips with this throughout the day. I don't know when I will go to Dhaka and when I will return with passengers.

Comillamukhi private car driver Hasan Mia said that the pressure of vehicles on the highway has already increased with Eid ahead. In between, long traffic jams have been created due to road blockades. I have suffered a lot with my family.

In this regard, Bhaberchar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Kamal Akhand said that traffic is being disrupted due to road blockade by workers in Tipuridi area of ​​Sonargaon. The Highway Police is working to bring the situation back to normal. It is expected that the traffic will return to normal soon after the workers leave the road.
