Busy sale at Postgola market, moderate demand for cows

Eid-ul-Azhar is only one day away. At the last moment, the crowd of buyers and sellers increased at the postgola Swashanghat Qorbani animal market in the capital. There is shouting, bargaining and selling of buyers and sellers in the market.

On Tuesday (May 26), it can be seen on the ground that there is more demand for small and medium-sized cows in the market, but many people are also interested in large cows. Many people are buying medium and big cows especially for family and few people to sacrifice.

Sohag Patwari, a resident of Shyampur, who came to the market, said, “Medium cows are more suitable for small families. The price is also within a comparable reach. So I chose a cow after looking around a lot.”

Another customer, Mizanur Rahman, a resident of Narayanganj Pagla, said, “Although the price of big cows is high, it is beneficial if a few people buy them together. So I came to see big cows with my friends.”

Sellers say sales have also increased due to the deadline. Abdul Malek, a businessman who brought cows from Faridpur, said, “There were few buyers for the last two days. But there has been a good sale since this morning. Small and medium-sized cows are being sold quickly.”

Masum Billah, another seller from Kushtia, said, “There are also buyers for big cows. Many people are looking and bargaining. We expect the sale to increase as the night progresses.”

Shafiullah Sumon, Director of Postgola Swashanghat Livestock Market Management Committee, said, “Adequate security measures have been taken at the market. Due to the rainy season, the buyers and sellers are facing a little problem. We are draining the water in a quick time. The market is completely congested. We hope that sales will increase on the last day.”
