Teenager missing after falling into river from tourist boat

A teenager named Tamim (15) has gone missing after falling from a boat in Patlai river in Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj.

The incident took place on Saturday (May 30) around 12 noon in the river on the north side of Sreepur Bazar in North Sreepur Union of Upazila. The missing is the son of Mojibur Mia of Golla village of Dharmapasha upazila of Tamim district.

According to local sources, on Saturday morning, a group of 50-60 people from Dharmapasha Upazila came to Tanguar Haor in a tourist boat called 'Ma-Babar Doa' with their families and relatives. At one stage of the journey, Tamim accidentally fell from the boat into the river Patlai. He has been missing ever since.

Tahirpur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Aminul Islam said, “Police and fire service members have been sent to the spot to rescue the missing juvenile. The rescue operation is underway.”
