Trees in exchange for old plastic in Tangail


On the occasion of the World Environment Day, the voluntary organization Youth Foundation is selling saplings in exchange for plastic or ten rupees.

It was organized throughout the day at Bhasani Road in Tangail on Thursday afternoon. At this time, tree lovers buy plastic items or bottles and trees for ten rupees.

Sonalu, Jarul, Amalki, Jam, Arjuna, Bahera, Chalta, Shishu, Amra, Jackfruit, Bakul, Kadbadam, Dragon fruit, Tulsi, Neem, Mango, Lychee, fruits, forest, medicinal plants were in the list of about two hundred trees for sale. University student Tahsin Zaman said, “It feels good to buy a tree at such a low price. I have collected bakul and jarul trees. Such arrangements should be regular.”

School teacher Sultana Parveen collected trees in exchange for old plastic. He said, “I collected 4 trees in exchange for the old plastic of the house with my children.”

“We want the young generation to play a leading role in protecting the environment,” said Moeed Hasan Tareet, founder of the event and president of the Foundation for Youth. We are organizing sale of trees for 10 taka, trees in exchange for plastic and one-one-tree movement to celebrate World Environment Day.

He said that one of our goals is to prevent climate change and environmental pollution.

The voluntary organization is planning to spread this 'exchange' program in 21 districts of the country and various upazilas and educational institutions of Tangail in the future. Their aim is to make every district city of Bangladesh a 'plastic free and green city'.
