1 person and 23 cows missing after trawler sinks in Padma river

A trawler carrying cattle has sunk in Padma river due to adverse weather conditions. Out of 20 people in the trawler, 19 managed to swim to the shore, but one person named Ayub Mia (45) is missing. Missing Ayub Mia's house is in Charbhadrasan area of ​​Faridpur. Of the 28 cows in the trawler, 5 were rescued but the remaining 23 cows were swept away by the current.

On Monday (May 25) around 2.30 pm, the accident took place along the 15th pillar of the Padma Bridge in the middle of the Padma River on the way from Charbhadrasan in Faridpur to Keraniganj.

In charge of Mawa Naval Police. Elias said that due to adverse weather conditions, the trawler sank in the middle of the river due to storm. After the accident, Ayub Miah went missing but was able to reach the shore with the help of other swimmers and locals.

He said that due to the strong current in the river and adverse weather conditions, the divers of the fire service could not start the rescue operation immediately. When the weather conditions are favorable, the search for the missing person will be started.
