Boat capsized in Hijla storm, three missing including father and son

An engine-powered boat sank in Barisal's Hejla branch of the Meghna river in a storm. Three people including father and son are missing in this incident.

This incident happened on Monday (May 25) around 3 pm.

The missing persons are Md. resident of ward number 2 of Dhulkhola Union of the upazila. Noor Islam (45), his son. Ibrahim (12) and Md. Harun Biswas (45).

Hijla Naval Police Outpost Incharge (Inspector) Gautam Chandra Mandal said, “An engine-driven boat left Aliganj Kheyaghat for Dhulkhola Kheyaghat with the help of a fisherman's card. After entering the middle of the river, when a storm started, the boat lost control and sank. Out of the 8 people in the boat, five of them got into another trawler that was passing by and saved their lives. Three are missing. Search is on for the missing persons.”
