Bhomra land port operations will be closed for 7 days


On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the import-export commercial activities at Bhomra land port of Satkhira will be closed for seven days. During this time, passport holders will pass through the immigration check post between Bangladesh and India normally.

Abu Mucha, general secretary of Satkhira's Bhomra C&F Agents Association, gave this information on Monday (May 25) morning.

According to related sources, the commercial activities of Bhomra port will be closed from May 25 (Monday) to May 31 (Sunday). The decision was taken through discussions between Bhomra C&F Association of Satkhira and India's Ghojadanga C&F Agent Cargo Welfare Association with the consent of both countries. According to the decision, cargo transportation, load-unloading and related internal operations of the port will also be temporarily closed during the Eid holidays.

Abu Mucha, general secretary of Bhomra C&F Agents Association, said, “On the occasion of Eid, it has been decided to stop import and export from May 25 to May 31, taking into consideration the convenience of the businessmen of the two countries. The matter has been officially informed to the concerned businessmen and port authorities of India.”

He also said that no commercial activities will be conducted at the port during this holiday. Normal activities will resume from Monday, June 1.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhomra Immigration Checkpost Tufan Mondal said that even though the commercial activities are closed, passenger crossing will continue. Passengers with passports can travel regularly.

Bhomra Land Port Authority Deputy Director Mamun Kabir Tarafdar said, “Though there is a temporary break due to Eid, the overall preparations of the port are continuing. All operations of the port will resume from June 1.”

Commissioner of Bhomra Customs House Mushfiqur Rahman said that the official activities of the customs will continue except the official holidays. Although there is some stagnation in the commercial environment centered on the border ports during the long holiday of Eid, but the business activities will return to normal soon after the holiday, the related businessmen and transporters are expecting.
