A mother and two daughters of the same family were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and an auto-rickshaw in Netrakona. Three others were injured in the incident.
The accident took place on Sunday (May 31) afternoon at Chalisha bypass area of ​​Mymensingh-Netrakona road.
The deceased were Noorjahan Begum (33) of Amli Keshabpur village of Sadar Upazila's Rouha Union and her two daughters Smriti Akhtar (16) and Iti Akhtar (10). Nur Jahan is the wife of Ainul Haque of that village.
According to police and local sources, a passenger auto-rickshaw bound for Chalisha from Netrakona city collided head-on with a Netrakona-bound 'Mahua' bus from Mymensingh. The autorickshaw got twisted due to the intensity of the collision. Smriti Akhter was killed on the spot. Nurjahan Begum and Iti Akhtar were rescued and taken to Netrakona Sadar Hospital where they died while undergoing treatment.
Three more injured in the accident were rescued by locals and admitted to the same hospital. The injured were not immediately identified.
Netrakona Additional Superintendent of Police Hafizul Islam confirmed the truth of the accident and said that necessary legal measures are being taken in this regard.
