An allegation has been made against the imam of a local mosque of raping a woman named Jhar-Funker unconscious in Bhabanipur area of ​​Gazipur Sadar Upazila by promising to solve family problems. There is a lot of discussion and criticism in this area.
Imam Abdul Hadi (50) has been using various means to identify himself as a religious personality and poet for a long time, according to the complaint of the victim woman, to solve her daughter's marital problems. At that time, a total of 81,000 taka was accepted from him step by step by talking about treatment and blowing.
In the written complaint, it is said that on the morning of March 28, the victim woman went to his house in Bhavanipur area on the call of the imam. There, he was taken to a room and given a drug-like substance as part of the ritual. After consuming it, he became unconscious. After regaining consciousness, she realizes that she has been raped.
The victim claimed that she and her family members were threatened in various ways if she protested against the rape. Even, threats of breaking up the girl's family and intimidation of black magic. Due to these reasons, he was under stress for a long time. Later, the family members informed the matter and filed a written complaint at the police station.
However, the woman claimed that the investigation process has not visibly started even after a few days have passed after the complaint was filed. At the same time, the victim also alleged that pressure and threats are being given by some local influential people to withdraw the complaint.
Locals said that the accused has been practicing Kaviraji for a long time. Due to various complaints and controversies, he was once relieved from the responsibility of a local mosque. Currently, he is serving as an imam in a nearby village mosque.
On the other hand, the Imam's family members have claimed that the allegations are baseless and motivated. According to them, such allegations were made to humiliate him socially due to a personal dispute.
In this regard, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Joydevpur Police Station Sujan Ranjan Talukdar said, “The complaint is being viewed seriously. The matter is under investigation. Necessary legal action will be taken based on the information received after the investigation.”
The victim and his family demanded that the real truth be revealed through a fair and impartial investigation and appropriate action be taken against those responsible.
