BNP activists beat up a Jatiya Nagrik Party (NCP) leader named Anwar Hossain in Raipur of Lakshmipur and handed it over to the police. A case has been registered against him under the Cyber ​​Protection Act for spreading ugly and defamatory statements about Prime Minister Tariq Rahman and BNP leaders on Facebook.
A youth leader named Ruhul Amin Mizhi filed the case at Raipur police station on Sunday (31 May). In the case, Anwar's brother Emon Hossain, Rubel Hossain and Dipur have been named and 4 other unknown persons have been accused.
Ruhul Amin, the plaintiff in the case, is the general secretary of Sonapur Union Juba Dal and son of Shafiq Ahmed of Charbaga village.
Anwar was arrested from his village house in Sonapur of Raipur Upazila on Saturday (May 30) night and handed over to the police after being beaten.
Anwar is the organizer of the central committee of Jatiya Sramik Shakti, an affiliate of Jatiya Nagrik Party and the son of Mohammad Ali of Sonapur village of Ward No. 8 of Sonapur Union of Raipur Upazila.
It is mentioned in the case, Anwar Hossain has spoken ugly and defamatory words against Prime Minister Tariq Rahman, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury on his Facebook ID. On Facebook, the name of the martyred President Ziaur Rahman was written on a paper and placed under his feet, and a picture was taken and circulated. Adverse reactions are created in these incidents. When asked to know the reason for this, the accused along with Anwar attacked the plaintiff Ruhul Amin. It is mentioned in the case that an attempt was made to strangle the plaintiff.
Juba Dal leader Ruhul Amin Mizhi said, “Anwar published ugly and defamatory words in the name of the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Water Resources Minister on Facebook. When we asked the reason for this, the accused attacked us along with him. I have filed a case in the police station.”
Alamgir Hossain, senior member secretary of NCP district committee, said that around 2,000 people attacked and vandalized Anwar's house. Later he was beaten and handed over to the police. Now a case has been filed in his name again. Political differences may exist, attacks on them are despicable.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raipur police station Shaheen Mia said that a case has been filed in the police station in the name of some people including Anwar. Anwar was handed over to the court in that case.
District Judge Court Assistant Public Counsel (APP) Abdul Ahad Shakeel Patwari said that a case has been filed under the Cyber ​​Protection Act against Anwar and others for spreading malicious and defamatory statements on Facebook. The judge ordered him to jail.
