Government wants to start distribution of free dress and shoes

The government has taken a step-by-step plan to supply uniforms and shoes for about 1 crore 7 lakh government primary students of the country. For this purpose, a pilot program is being implemented as a 180-day program of the government at the initial stage through which the effectiveness of distribution of quality clothes and shoes to the students will be verified.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaz said these things in a discussion meeting with the country's leading footwear brand companies to distribute free dress and footwear materials to government primary school students in the meeting room of the ministry on Thursday (June 4).

Stating that the top organizations of the country's garment industry have already responded positively to this initiative of the government, the state minister said, “With their cooperation, more than 4 lakh uniforms are available for the pilot project. Similarly, the government expects cooperation from the shoe industry organizations of the country.”

In the meeting, the state minister said that there was an initial discussion regarding the provision of white colored velcro (strapless) cadets for the first class students at the pilot stage. As the majority of first graders are around six years old, institutions are asked for their views on appropriate sizes, size variations, needs of boys and girls and numbers available.

Bobby Hajjaz urged the concerned institutions to send detailed information to the ministry about their potential grant amount, delivery period and production cost structure. He said, “Long-term partnership between the government and the industrial sector will be developed for large-scale supply of footwear in future.”

He said, “The government wants to present the visible progress of the pilot program to the people by the month of August this year. Especially the government aims to start the implementation of this initiative before the completion of the first six months.”

At that time, the secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and top officials of footwear companies of the country were present.
