In three upazilas of Chapainawabganj, 6 people including three women were killed by lightning on the same day. Among them, three died in Shibganj upazila.
They were killed by lightning during the rain on Thursday (May 4) afternoon. The Officers-in-Charge (OC) of the concerned police station confirmed this information.
Those who died due to lightning are Abdullah (14) son of Rabbil of Atahar area of ​​Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila, Mahmuda Begum (19) wife of Abdur Rauf of Chak Narendra village of Chakkirti Union of Shibganj Upazila, Sahida Khatun (16) daughter of Kashem Ali of Ranibagi Bazarpara of the same union, Fitu Ali son of Shikarpur Dakshin Para of Mubarakpur Union. Mesbaul (14), Sumi Ara (40), wife of Abdur Rakib of Lahapara village in Fatepur union of Nachol upazila, and Hasan Ali (21), son of Sakyule of Gasaipur village in Nizampur union.
Shibganj Police Station OC Matiur Rahman said that all the three people of Shibganj died in Ambagan near their house. They were killed by lightning while picking mangoes in the garden in the rain.
Upazila project implementation officer Mizanur Rahman said that the three families have been given financial assistance of 25,000 taka.
Ekramul Hossain, OC of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station, said that Kishore Abdullah went to bring cows to the field in Atahar area of ​​Sadar Upazila in the rain. At that time he was seriously injured by lightning. Locals rushed him to Chapainawabganj District Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Nachol Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sukomal Chandra Debnath said that Sumi Ara died due to lightning while returning home after cutting grass from a field in Fatepur Union of Nachol Upazila. At this time, her husband Abdur Rakib was injured. Another person named Hasan was killed while picking mangoes in Nizampur.
In Chapainawabganj Sadar and Nachol upazilas, the families of those who died due to lightning have also been given financial assistance of 25 thousand taka.
