Iran has suspended drone and missile strikes targeting US allies in the Middle East after the US airstrikes temporarily stopped. However, Tehran does not see this US break as a permanent ceasefire; Rather, the country is cautious about the issue. Qatar-based media Al-Jazeera reported this information.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai said in the past that the United States has been accused of betraying the diplomatic process, but currently there is an exchange of messages between Washington and Tehran through intermediaries.
According to the news agency Reuters report, the Pentagon announced the suspension of the attack last Friday (July 24) night after conducting military operations for 13 consecutive nights. Since then, no new attacks have been reported from the US.
At the same time, Iran has not launched any new drone or missile attacks targeting US military bases in neighboring countries, the report said.
A senior Iranian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, ‘Our position is very clear – attacks will be answered with attacks. If the attacks stop, Iran will also stop the attacks. This message has already been conveyed to Washington.’
Mike Waltz, the United States ambassador to the United Nations, said that the Trump administration has temporarily suspended military operations to create opportunities for diplomacy. But another US administration official indicated that the two-week campaign had destroyed most of Iran’s designated targets. In addition, US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Dan Cain has warned President Trump about the risk of taking the next major step due to the reduction of ammunition and weapons stockpiles in the Middle East.
However, Iranian analysts see this US move as a strategic strategy. According to a source in Tehran, skepticism is working among ordinary citizens and many in the administration instead of a permanent solution. The ongoing military conflict in the Strait of Hormuz has created a lot of uncertainty and anxiety in the global oil market.
