Iran has launched seven ballistic missiles towards Kuwait and Bahrain. Iran carried out the attack just hours after the US military shot down an Iranian attack drone that was launched into the Strait of Hormuz on Friday night (June 6) and hit Iranian radar sites.
“Preliminary assessments indicate that six missiles fired by Iran were intercepted and the seventh missed its intended target,” US military command CENTCOM said.
They added, “There are currently no reports of casualties to US personnel and Iranian claims of damage to the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false.”
Earlier, the US attacked the radar sites in Iran's Sirik and Qeshm islands. Hours later, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they had attacked an 'enemy base' in the Gulf.
Kuwait's military said early Saturday it was responding to “hostile” missile and drone attacks.
Earlier this week, an Iranian drone wreaked havoc on a passenger terminal at Kuwait's main airport, killing one person and injuring dozens, and the airport was temporarily closed. At the same time, Iran launched a missile attack on Bahrain.
