Prime Minister Tarek Rahman – Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov meeting


Prime Minister Tarek Rahman had a meeting with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Oljas Bekhtenov. This meeting was held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum conference today at 10:15 am local time in China.


In the meeting, Prime Minister Tariq Rahman emphasized on strengthening bilateral relations with Kazakhstan. To this end, the Prime Ministers of the two countries agreed to establish permanent diplomatic missions in Dhaka and Astana. Besides, they opined that regular meetings should be held to increase communication between political, business and people.


Kazakh Prime Minister Oljas Bekhtenov positively views the prospect of greater engagement in trade and investment between the two countries.


The meeting also discussed the trade potential of the two countries in the fields of sending skilled workers from Bangladesh to Kazakhstan, renewable energy, digital infrastructure, technology, agribusiness and food processing.


In addition, Prime Minister Oljas Bekhtenov expects Bangladesh’s support for Kazakhstan’s proposal to establish a specialized organization under the United Nations on water diplomacy. Prime Minister Tariq Rahman said that Bangladesh has support in this.


Minister of Foreign Affairs in the meeting. Khalilur Rahman, Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir and Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon were present.
