Rabir Bus: Despite permission to organize 'Wedding', students are not interested in Eid Yatra

Ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, to ensure the safe and comfortable return home of the students of different universities of the country, special bus services have been launched for students in different universities of the country, but no initiative has been taken in Rajshahi University (Rabi). The students have expressed their anger and frustration with the role of the administration and Rajshahi University Central Student Union (Rakusu).

Students of Rabi are extensively discussing and criticizing the matter in various university-centric groups on social media. They claimed that a more sincere and student-friendly role of the administration and Raksu was expected to ensure the safe Eid journey of thousands of students.

The students say that not using the university buses, which ply on a limited basis every day, for the students during important times like Eid is a manifestation of the indifference of the administration and the monster. On the other hand, the concerted initiative of the administration and students' union to deliver students home in various universities has been appreciated, but the picture is completely different in Rabi.

Various public universities of the country—Jahangirnagar University (JAB), Comilla University (KUBI), Jagannath University (JAB), Begum Rokeya University (BEROBI), Noakhali University of Science and Technology (NOBIPROBI) and some other universities have launched special bus services for the students to reach their homes safely during the Eid trip. However, neither the university administration nor the students' council has taken any special trip or extra bus arrangements in Rajshahi University, one of the largest universities in the country.

Rabi student Sajibur Rahman said, “Rabi buses have been approved for marriage ceremonies, but the administration has blisters in giving approval to students for a safe Eid journey. The Raksu movement has been carried out with the intention that the elected representatives will ensure the safety of students and will be a powerful tool for the realization of logical rights. It is positive that Jaksu can arrange to send buses to divisional cities for the benefit of students, and Raksu's failure to do so is a failure. Even if I or anyone else is in Raksu, it is also a failure. would have been.”

Another student, Awal Rasel, said, “The Rabi administration or Raksur did not have to get much speed to fulfill this demand. It was possible if they wanted. Rabi's bus already runs at a distance of two feet, and the number of trips is also low. On normal days, Jabir's bus travels a long distance. Rabi's buses should be just for show, and all arrangements are made for the comfort of the drivers.”

Rabi student Rakib Rafsan said, “Raksu is busy with women's fairs, qawwali and ghazals; while the Rabi administration is busy with pet quotas. Rabi may be the second largest university, but in terms of student facilities, it lags behind many universities in the cluster.”

In this regard Raksur General Secretary (GS) Salahuddin Ammar said on social media, “Raksur contacted the Transport Department to provide bus trips to the divisional cities. The Transport Department informed that only the VC Sir can give permission for bus movement outside Rajshahi. Since the VC Sir is on a visit to Pakistan, permission is requested from the Pro-VC (Administration) Sir as Acting VC. However, the former Pro-VC said, Bus movement outside the department is under the jurisdiction of the VC sir only. Despite many attempts to contact the VC sir, he could not be reached.”

He also said, “We have also proposed that Raksu will bear the cost of fuel. Even then permission has not been received. Raksu's initiative has been hampered by administrative complications.”

In this regard, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Faridul Islam, was out of the country, but several attempts were made to contact him, but it was not possible.

However, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Abdul Alim said, “I don't know anything about this. I have not spoken to the VC sir as he is out of the country. Since I took charge only a few days ago, I have not met him yet. He may be able to tell the matter when he returns home.”
