Use of Bangla QR is mandatory, as per application

Bangla QR has been introduced compulsorily with the aim of expanding cashless transactions in the country to reduce the crisis of torn notes, counterfeit and retail currency. In a report on Wednesday (July 1), Bangladesh Daily reported this information.

According to the report, under this unified digital payment system of Bangladesh Bank, trade license, educational institution salary, hospital bill, transport toll and various government and private services will also be paid digitally.

According to Bangladesh Bank, Bangla QR has been launched as a unified digital transaction platform to make the country’s payment system more modern, inclusive and transparent. As a result, everyone from shopping malls, supershops, small shops to sidewalk traders can accept digital payments using the same QR code.

Where conventional card-based payment acceptance requires expensive point of sale (POS) machines, a simple QR sticker is sufficient for Bangla QR. Small traders can also easily come under the cashless transaction system.
