Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, senior joint secretary general of BNP and adviser to the prime minister, said, those who have a role in the movement and struggle, who have the ability to speak in parliament, who have reputation in the society; I strongly believe that they will elect the party in the reserved women seats.

He spoke to reporters at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan at 11 am on Saturday (April 11).

Rizvi Ahmed said, about five hundred forms were sold on Friday (April 10) to get nomination for the reserved women’s seat. Today Saturday (April 11) from 10 am our office officials are distributing forms. As you know, yesterday, today Saturday and tomorrow Sunday (April 12) – these three days forms will be distributed and submitted. It will continue. Many have submitted yesterday. The application will go to the board which consists of senior leaders of the party. How this process will be completed will be known within days. We will let you know again.

He said, we are expecting – the way BNP elects its parliamentarians according to democratic norms. Similarly this time also the same method will be adopted. In other words, we are distributing nomination forms to those who want to be candidates. They will fill it and submit it to us along with the required documents.

He said that the expectation this time is very high because of the long 16/17 years of going through a terrible situation to reach this point today. It has been a long struggle for a free and fair election. After 16 years of struggle we have to make maximum use of the environment for democratic practice.

Rizvi also said that the people of the country will know that those who are in power, those who are in the parliament are the government party and the opposition party. They are adopting a fair democratic practice. Creating an environment of accountability.

The present parliament and other public representatives, such as Zilla Parishad Chairman, Upazila Parishad Chairman, Municipal Mayor and Union Parishad Chairman will be elected by popular vote in each place.

Aspirants for reserved women seats are buying forms in large numbers since yesterday. Running today and tomorrow. Tomorrow Sunday (April 12) is the last day to purchase and submit forms. Women have contributed a lot in past movements. Anyone expressing independent opinion on Facebook was arrested late at night. They have to endure constant persecution. Those who have a role in the movement and struggle of the party, who have the ability to speak in parliament, who have reputation in the society; I strongly believe that they will definitely be selected by the team.
