Prime Minister’s visit to China begins. | Times BD BANGLADESH


After his visit to Malaysia, Prime Minister Tariq Rahman went to China on Monday. Prime Minister and his wife Dr. A special Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying Zobaida Rahman landed at Zhushuiji International Airport in Dalian, China at 11:05 pm local time. The Prime Minister will participate in the conference of the World Economic Forum in Dalian on Tuesday.


Yesterday at 5 pm, the Prime Minister left for Dalian by special flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Vice Governor of Liaoning Province and Ambassador of Bangladesh to China Zhu Shuiji welcomed the Prime Minister and his wife at the airport. From the airport, the Prime Minister was taken in a motorcade to Hotel Shangri-La.


Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon said that Prime Minister Tariq Rahman will be busy in Dalian for two days. Then he will go to Beijing, the capital of China. The main program of the state visit will begin there.


The Prime Minister’s five-day official visit is likely to include meetings with China’s top leadership, participation in the Bangladesh Investment Forum and the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). The Prime Minister is scheduled to have a courtesy call on World Economic Forum President and CEO Alois Zwingi on Tuesday morning. Apart from this, he will meet with the heads of government of different countries. In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will address a session on ‘Climate Leadership in a Changing Global Context’ at the Dalian International Conference Centre. Later, he is scheduled to attend a reception hosted by the head of China’s State Council.


The Prime Minister will participate in the 17th annual meeting of ‘New Champions’, known as ‘Summer Davos’ of the World Economic Forum tomorrow, Wednesday. There will be an opportunity for informal exchange of views with the heads of government of different countries. On the same day, there are plans to meet with representatives of top institutions in China’s railway, road and bridge construction and mechanical engineering sectors. He will leave Dalian for Beijing by high-speed train in the afternoon and arrive there in the evening.


The Prime Minister will attend the Bangladesh Investment Forum in Beijing on Thursday. In the presence of about 100 investors and business representatives, various initiatives to attract investment in Bangladesh’s potential sectors will be highlighted in this event. Separate meetings with representatives of various industrial groups and organizations in China are also planned on this day. This may include meetings with representatives of Cherry Group, Handa Group and Chinatex Corporation.


Prime Minister Tariq Rahman will hold an official meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday afternoon. About 10 MoUs are likely to be signed and exchanged between the two countries after the meeting. After that, Tariq Rahman will participate in the state banquet hosted by the Chinese Prime Minister.


Prime Minister Tariq Rahman will hold a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping after meeting with National People’s Congress Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Leji next Friday morning. The meeting is likely to discuss bilateral relations, expansion of cooperation and various strategic issues. On this day, he will visit the Museum of the Communist Party of China. The Prime Minister is scheduled to depart from Beijing Daxing International Airport later in the afternoon and reach Dhaka at night.
