India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned in the face of protests by the Cockroach Janata Party (CPG).
He submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (July 25) and announced it on his social media.*
In his resignation letter, Dharmendra Pradhan said that after the issue of irregularities in the NIT-UG examination came to light, the government quickly handed over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), canceled the examination and organized a re-examination and decided to conduct the computer-based (CBT) examination from next year.
He claimed that he accepted responsibility from the beginning of the incident and was active in dealing with the situation. His main aim was that the future of any meritorious student should not be damaged due to examination fraud and injustice should not be done to any student.
Dharmendra Pradhan said that the combined efforts of the central and state governments, district administration, students and parents have played an important role in successfully completing the re-examination of more than two million students. He also mentioned that he was satisfied with the success of many students from poor and marginalized families in the results published on July 16.
But in his resignation letter, he alleged that some responsible persons tried to mislead the students and complicated the situation in various ways, which deeply upset him.
He wrote that the events of the last 10 days have deeply saddened him and the matter is not about his personal dignity, but about the larger interests of the country.
He stated that he has decided to resign keeping in mind the current situation of the country so that no anti-national force can take advantage, national unity remains intact, the future of students does not get into legal complications and they can concentrate on their studies instead of agitation.
At the end of the resignation letter, Dharmendra Pradhan expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his cabinet colleagues, officials and employees of the Ministry of Education and colleagues. At the same time, he said that national service is the highest priority in his life and he will continue to work for the welfare of the people and youth of the country in the future.
