Israel has again launched airstrikes in the Gaza Strip. One Palestinian was killed and more than 12 injured in the attack. A mosque and tents used as shelters for hundreds of displaced people were also destroyed in the attack.
On Tuesday (July 28), Israeli warplanes attacked Al-Muttaqin Mosque, located near the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) building in Gaza City. At the same time, a series of airstrikes were conducted in various areas of central and northern Gaza.
Al Jazeera reporter Tariq Abu Ajjum said that although warnings were issued in the affected areas before the attack, residents were given very little time to evacuate to safety. As a result, many people did not get a chance to prepare adequately.
Meanwhile, at least one Palestinian was killed in a separate attack on Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp. Citing health officials, Abu Azjum said that the attack targeted a group of Palestinians in a busy market. At least 20 people were injured.
He said that there is extreme fear among the common people due to the fear of any new attack.
Earlier on Sunday, Israel’s security cabinet approved a resolution that would allow the first members of the International Security Assistance Force to enter Gaza as part of a US-brokered ceasefire that has been in effect since last October.
On the other hand, attacks on Palestinians and land grabbing continue in the occupied West Bank. Eight Palestinians living there were forced to flee when Israeli settlers set fire to a house in the Abu Nazim neighborhood near Bethlehem, the Palestinian Red Crescent said. Locals alleged that the attackers set fire to a car besides writing various slogans on the walls of the building and then set fire to the entire building.
In addition, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israel has acquired about 20 hectares of Palestinian land in various areas of Jenin Governorate through military orders for the purpose of building new military roads and expanding settlements.
