The incident of beating a BNP leader in Narayanganj Zilla Parishad premises has created a sensation in the political arena. The four Youth Dal workers accused in this incident were immediately expelled from all positions including primary membership of the organization by the District Youth Dal. However, a Juba Dal source said that those who have been expelled are not Juba Dal workers.
Akil Uddin Bhuiyan, the former joint convener of Siddhirganj Thana BNP, was beaten up after a program organized by the Zilla Parishad on Thursday (June 4) afternoon. The expelled in this incident are – Md. Mamun, Md. Kawsar, Nitai Chowdhury and Md. Delwar Hossain.
Eyewitnesses said that on the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman, various events including blood donation program, tree fair, book fair and painting competition were held at the district council premises. Akil Uddin Bhuiyan got into an argument with some Jubo Dal workers over standing in the front row at the opening ceremony. Senior leaders present at that time calmed down the situation.
Meanwhile, in a video circulating on social media, it was seen that Akil Uddin Bhuiyan, member secretary of district youth party Moshiur Rahman Roni, commented on 'what has he done in the last 14 years' in front of the leaders and activists. This made Roni angry. Later, Roni's followers expressed their displeasure over the issue.
It is alleged that Akil Uddin Bhuiyan was ambushed when he was leaving the Zilla Parishad premises after the program at around 2 pm. As the assailants kill-punched him, his lip split open and he bled. At this time, his clothes were also torn.
After this incident, Zilla Parishad administrator Professor Mamun Mahmud expressed his anger and said, “Such incidents are not acceptable in any way. After reviewing the video footage, the attackers will be identified and necessary action will be taken.”
He also mentioned that BNP is not a party of terrorists, no terrorist will be entertained here.
Akil Uddin Bhuiyan, the victim of the attack, complained that he had an argument with Moshiur Rahman Roni during the inauguration ceremony. However, senior leaders settled the matter immediately. Later, when he and Roni came down together from the administrator's room, Roni's followers attacked him.
Narayanganj District Youth Dal Member Secretary Moshiur Rahman Roni said, “Those who have committed such incidents in places like the District Council, have done wrong. Therefore, the four accused have been immediately expelled from all positions of the Youth Dal in order to maintain order in the organization.”
