After the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India became somewhat strained. However, efforts are being made to create a new relationship equation in the changing political situation. In the meantime, India has expressed its hope to further cooperation and relations with Bangladesh.
Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal spoke about the matter at the weekly briefing of the Ministry of External Affairs of India on Friday (July 24). He said that India is interested in maintaining positive and constructive relations with Bangladesh.
In the briefing, questions were asked about the two press officers sent by Bangladesh to India. India’s position was sought in response to allegations of anti-India sentiments in their past social media activity.
In response, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, ‘We have been informed about the appointment of new officers. We want to further our relationship. We look forward to working with the Bangladesh High Commission here to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.’
In the briefing, a journalist named Gautam Lahiri asked, ‘The ambassador of the United States of America is coming to Dhaka soon. Did he inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about this? Is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs aware of the purpose of his visit?’
In response, Randhir Jaiswal said, “We do not have any information regarding the US ambassador’s visit.”
