BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the Election Commission (EC) has already started preparations to organize the upcoming local elections in a fair, free and impartial manner.

This initiative will continue in the next national elections and the Election Commission is working to bring the maximum number of expatriate Bangladeshis under this system.
In response to the question of Abdul Karim, Member of Parliament of Gaibandha-2 Constituency, he said that at the moment the government has no plan to increase the salary of the union chairman and members.
He said, according to the District Council Act, 2000, the members of parliament of a district elected under Article 65 of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh will be advisers to the district council and will provide advice in the execution of its council’s functions.
