Finance Minister Amir Khusru Mahmud Chowdhury said, ‘The government is working to fulfill the promise of ensuring quality healthcare to the people.’
He said these things in a discussion titled ‘The path to entrepreneurship in the health sector in Bangladesh’ at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday (July 7).
Stating that the government is encouraging private entrepreneurs to increase investment in the health sector, the minister said, ‘Efficient entrepreneurs have been created in Bangladesh. If the right environment and right policies are ensured, they will be able to show world class success. Effective leadership is most important in this regard.’
Regarding private sector investment, the finance minister said, ‘The government is encouraging entrepreneurs in the healthcare and medical equipment manufacturing sector. In this year’s budget, various opportunities and incentives have been kept to increase investment in the production of medical equipment.
He said, ‘The leadership of the country is showing the way of development. We have a leader, who is taking the country forward, showing us the way. We are now working seven days a week.’
Zubaida Rahman, Vice Chairman of Ziaur Rahman Foundation said in the Chief Guest’s speech, ‘Healthcare is not a special benefit for the people, it is a basic right of the people of the country.’
He said, ‘Government is trying to provide universal health protection and deliver health care to every citizen with dignity and respect.’
