The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) dissolved the existing committees of Dinajpur’s Phulbari and Parvatipur upazilas of BNP. This information was informed in a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi from the party’s central office on Saturday (July 26).
According to the press release, the existing committees of Parbatipur Upazila and Phulbari Upazila of Dinajpur district have been dissolved.
However, the reason for the dissolution of the committee was not mentioned in the notification. At the same time, no instructions or schedule were given immediately regarding the formation of the new committee Khurshid Alam Moti, president of the recently defunct Fulbari upazila BNP and advisor of Dinajpur district BNP, confirmed the matter and said that the last committee of Fulbari and Parbatipur upazila BNP was formed in 2017. The term of that committee has expired long ago.
He also said that some leaders in upazila and municipal BNP positions opposed the party candidate in the last parliamentary elections Besides, there was a fear of breaking party discipline in view of the upcoming local government elections. Taking these issues into consideration, an appeal was made to the central leadership of the party to abolish the upazila committee. In view of that application, the central leadership committee decided to dissolve.
Principal Khurshid Alam Moti said that in a short time, the existing committees of BNP in Phulbari and Parbatipur upazilas will be dissolved and new convening committees may be formed.
