Tehran has warned that all US military bases in the Middle East will become legitimate targets for Iranian attacks if the ceasefire agreement continues. At the same time, the country has claimed an attack on a US military base located in Bahrain.
Iran’s state media reported this information on Wednesday (July 8).
In a statement aired by state television IRIB, Iran’s military said Wednesday that the attack targeted the US military base stationed at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain.
The attack was carried out in response to US ‘hostile aggression’ in military and civilian areas in the southern part of the country and violation of 14 articles of the ceasefire agreement, the statement said.
Iran’s military has warned that all US military bases in the region will be legitimate targets of Iranian military drone strikes if the criminal US continues to openly violate the ceasefire.
Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had attacked 85 US military installations using missiles and drones.
Tasnim news agency said the targets of the attack were Salman port in Bahrain, home to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters, and Kuwait’s Ali al-Salem air base.
On the other hand, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense said that the country’s air defense system shot down several missiles and drones on Wednesday. At the same time, air raid warnings were sounded across Bahrain.
Meanwhile, the US military said that they have launched a new round of attacks against Iran. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that more than 80 targets were hit in response to Iran’s latest attack on commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to CENTCOM, the military operation was carried out as an “immediate response” to Iran’s attack on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
