Israel has approved 13 new settlements in the occupied West Bank. A proposal in this regard has been approved by Israel’s security cabinet. On the other hand, Palestinian officials strongly condemned such actions. This information was reported in a report of New Arab on Friday (July 3).
Palestinian officials say such settlement expansion will deepen the territorial divide. This will further isolate occupied East Jerusalem.
Israeli media Channel 7 reported that the cabinet on Thursday approved the construction of new settlements in Binyamin Regional Council, one of the largest settlements in the central West Bank.
Israeli media reported that work on the first phase of the project will begin in the coming months. Initially four to six settlements will be established. Apart from this, several existing settlement posts will also be legalized.
Millions of shekels will be invested in the project and several existing livestock centers will also receive a formal legal basis. As a result, they will have access to government funds and infrastructure.
Channel 7 and other media reported that the project will be financed with an investment of about 1 billion shekels. As a result, the settlements concerned will have access to government funds and access to basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity and water.
