The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has finalized the list of nominated candidates for the reserved women’s seats in the Thirteenth National Assembly. The popular model and activist Farzana Sinthi Farzana Sinthi did not get a place in the announced list.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the names of the candidates at the party office in Nayapaltan on Monday (April 20).
Selima Rahman, Shireen Sultana, Rasheda Begum Hira, Rehana Akhtar Ranu, Newaz Halima Early, Farida Yasmin, Bilkis Islam, Shakila Farzana, Helen Zerin Khan, Nilufar Chowdhury Moni, Nipun Roy Chowdhury and dozens of candidates have been nominated in the final list.
Earlier, Farzana Sinthi collected the nomination form for the reserved seat for women. He expressed his hope to be a candidate from Narail-II seat. However, as his name is not in the final list, the matter has given rise to discussion.
Farzana Sinthi is a resident of Jessore and went viral on social media after a heated exchange with an army officer over an incident at Shahbag police station on August 16, 2024. Apart from social activities, she is also associated with modeling. She has worked with The Hunger Project Bangladesh and also modeled in a music video.
According to party sources, the final list of candidates has been decided on the basis of internal evaluation.
