Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah stood like an ‘unyielding rock’ against Israeli aggression. According to him, this position of Hezbollah has become a message of inspiration for the liberation nations of the world.
Tasnim news agency reported that Khamenei made the comments in response to a letter of loyalty sent by Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem and the organization’s fighters. In a letter published on July 26, he praised the patience, sacrifice and resistance of Hezbollah members.
In the letter, Khamenei said that the nations of the world are tired of the oppression of the United States and the ‘Zionist regime’. He claimed that in such a situation there is no other way except ‘Jihad and resistance’ and if you persist in this way, victory is possible in the end.
He said Hezbollah is currently one of the main forces among the groups fighting against Israeli aggression and their supporters. This firmness of the organization set an inspiring example for the freedom-seeking masses.
Khamenei also said that behind this position of Hezbollah, the patience, sacrifice and support of the people of Lebanon, especially the residents of the southern part of the country, played an important role.
Iran’s supreme leader said the Islamic Republic of Iran considers support for Hezbollah and other “resistance movements” as its strategic responsibility. He said the preservation of Lebanon’s territorial integrity and an end to Israeli aggression should be important conditions of any ceasefire or settlement.
In the letter, Khamenei remembered the slain leaders, including former Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyid Hassan Nasrullah. He cited their contribution as important in strengthening the Islamic resistance movement.
At the end he prayed for the resistance movement fighters, killed, injured and displaced families and sought Allah’s mercy for them.
