Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized on utilizing indigenous innovation to find effective and sustainable methods of mosquito control.
He urged the city corporations to experiment and implement new technologies and locally developed methods.
On Monday (July 20), he made this call by joining the online platform at the program on ‘Mosquito Control Technology’ organized by Youth to World at Engineers Institution in Ramna of the capital.
The minister said that indigenous technology and innovation should be given importance in addition to traditional methods of mosquito killing. If proven effective, these methods can be implemented through the City Corporation.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, the chemicals that are being used to control mosquitoes are not very useful. But the technology being talked about using indigenous chemicals is promising.
The local government minister said that killing mosquito larvae is the main task in the current season of dengue and chikungunya. The joint program of the city corporation and innovators in mosquito control will be successful if the newly developed technology can be piloted.
